messy monkeys product review

My little one bought this product from school one day and show me the empty pack. Let's have a closer look.

Product: Freedom Food Messy Monkey Cheese flavoured whole grain bites

Nutrition per 100g: Energy 1800 kJ (430 kcal), Protein 8.7 g, Fat 18.1 g of which saturates 1.7 g Carbohydrates 58 g of which sugars 0.5 g, Sodium 398 mg, 9.9g fibre

Ingredients: Flour Mix [Whole Grain Sorghum (24%), Maize, Rice, Whole Grain Quinoa (12%)], Sunflower Oil, Chickpea Fibre, Salt, Natural Flavour, Onion Powder, Cream Powder, Emulsifier (Sunflower Lecithin).

What I like about it? These little ring of snack foods are gluten free and contain sources of wholegrain. The serving size per packet is 20g. It is a source of fibre and a good way to introduce different types of grains. It has a higher Health Star Rating than most of other snack foods.

What I don't like about it? It is still a higher sodium choice. It comes in 8 small bags in a big bag in the supermarket aisle. The environment friendly part of me is not keen on generating so much waste, particularly for bag-free Wednesdays at school. It contains cream powder so it is not a vegan option.

Would I give them to my children? I will have to instruct my children to buy the burger and the pizza flavour instead, as those flavours are vegan.
