Product review - Tofurky sausages

Product: Tofurky sausages - Italian original

Nutrition per 100g: Energy 1176 kJ (280 kcal), Protein 30 g, Fat 14 g of which saturates 1.5 g Carbohydrates 8 g of which sugars 3 g, Sodium 620 mg

Ingredients: Organic tofu (water, organic soybeans, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride), vital wheat gluten, expeller pressed non-GMO canola oil, water, shoyu soy sauce (water, non-GMO soybeans, wheat, salt, culture), organic soy flour, sundried tomatoes, basil, granulated garlic, sea salt, spices.

What I like about it? These sausages does not contain any nitrites unlike a lot of the meat containing sausages (nitrites is the bad stuff that we need to avoid). Plenty of protein per sausage (whopping 30g- which is more than 50% daily requirement for most adults). The ingredients are non-GMO, and it is quite tasty. I bought them frozen from my local vegan shop at Baulkham Hills (https://www.facebook.com/AllAboutEmpathyVeganShop/) and it defrost quite quickly.

What I don't like about it? It is quite high in salt, although most sausages are high in sodium. It is imported from the United States and I would prefer an Australian product.

Would I give them to my children? Yes definitely as a treat due to its high sodium content.
